The Sex Education We—God’s Children—Deserve.
Couples Discussion at Bridgehaven
_
What meaning do you and your spouse give to sex?
The meaning of sex has long been predominated by the world’s definitions—this is one prevailing reason we struggle providing meaningful “sex education” for our rising children.
Depending on the meaning we associate with sex, the resulting experience can range from positive to negative, joyful to painful, exulting to debasing. The lack of meaning will limited our response altogether. So in order to elevate our sexual experience we must elevate the associated meaning we attach to sex.
But what if God gave sacred meaning associated with sex? With such meaning and understanding, I believe we can truly worship through sex and bring goodness to our marital relationships as well as mentor our children and others on the sacredness of sex.
Our discussion will explore God’s meaning embodied in the template (or temple) of our bodies— through its design, symbolism, function and metaphor—and further expressed through its exchange with our spouse as a type of an “ordinance.” Through this discussion, it is my prayer that we hear God speaking to us of His desired union with us in terms that evoke the highest and most powerful metaphor and meaning ever given to man and woman—sex.
